Friday was one of those blissful days where we had nowhere to be and nothing to do. For the first time in this two week road trip of the west coast, we could just be. I might have been rocking one hell of a fever but I wasn’t going to miss the one day we had to go to Santa Monica. Just 40 minutes from our hotel in Long Beach, it was sunny and breezy – perfect conditions to break out my new paper bag waist shorts from Revolve.
But before you think I’ve been raiding bins for the sake of fashion, it’s actually the type of pleated, cinched in waistband that lends itself to its name. Although it’s one of the hottest trends of summer, the paper bag waist short isn’t a passing fad and is one to snap up this season. Why? Because no matter your size, shape or age, they’re one of the most flattering cuts for everyone. Sitting above the belly button, they define the smallest part of your waist without clinging to the thighs or hips. The material just loosely skins over the rest of the leg elongating your pins. The overall aim of paper bag waist shorts is to keep things as sleek as possible so think formal fabrics like linen, leather and cotton with the hemline neat and tidy.
On a separate note, how cool is the street art down Abbot Kinney Boulevard?! The whole street is full of healthy eateries, trendy boutiques, edgy designer brands and the odd celeb sighting (ahem, Whitney Port). I want to move here immediately!
