They aren’t new but serums certainly aren’t going anywhere either. If you don’t have one in your daily skincare regime, it may be time to jump on the bandwagon – your complexion will thank you for it! So what do serums actually do? Here comes the sciency bit: the molecules in a serum are smaller than those in a moisturiser which means that it can deposit ingredients deeper into the skin. This leads to more hydrated, glowing skin, and who doesn’t want that?!

With so many out there, it’s difficult to decide which one is best for sensitive skin. As a rule, when you have irritations, you want to put as little on your face as possible, but a serum can help rather than hinder. Simply apply before moisturiser and feel the difference.

Here are some of my favourites:

Red Alert, £30 Medik8

This supports the lipid barrier of the skin which visibly reduces the signs of soreness and surface irritation.

Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, £16.50 Trilogy

This is multitasking at it’s best – not only does it soothe red skin, it’s also brilliant of scars, stretch marks and dehydrated skin thanks to it’s high omega 3, 6 and 9 content. No wonder Miranda Kerr loves it!

Revitalise & Glow Serum, £47 Aurelia

100% natural, this formula contains probiotics, peptides and antioxidants, vitamin E, fatty acids and hibiscus to fight oxidative stress.

S5 Calm Serum, £44

A targeted soothing treatment for redness & sensitive skin with marine bioactives to reduce the appearance of persistent redness & any signs of hyper reactive skin.
