SHOULD YOU TRY THE SIRT DIET?

Just as we’re getting to grips with flexitarianism, there’s a new way of eating. It may sound like scavenging in the mud for your dinner but sirtfoods are the new wonder group to sweep our shores. Here’s everything you need to know…

WHAT ARE THEY?

Sirtfoods activate our sirtuins, also known as our “skinny” genes which clear out cellular waste and burn fat.

WHAT DO I NEED TO EAT?

There are loads of sirtfoods, most of which you probably already have in your cupboard, but here are some of the most effective:

  • Kale
  • Rocket
  • Parsley
  • Red onions
  • Strawberries
  • Walnuts
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Cocoa
  • Curry spices
  • Green tea
  • Coffee
  • Red wine

But if you think you can pick and choose a couple, think again – you need to incorporate all 20 in your daily diet.

COFFEE, CHOCOLATE AND RED WINE – ARE YOU SURE?

Oh yes! They are incredibly rich sources of the natural plant compounds that activate our sirtuin genes.

HOW DOES THE DIET WORK?

Days 1-3

Calorie intake is restricted to 1,000 calories per day, consisting of three Sirtfood green juices plus one full meal rich in Sirtfoods.

Days 4-11

Ccalorie intake increases to 1,500 calories, comprising two Sirtfood-rich green juices and two Sirtfood-rich meals.

Days 12-onwards

This is amaintenance phase, where weight loss continues steadily. It’s all about packing your diet full of Sirtfoods in a sustainable and realistic way. This is achieved by eating three balanced Sirtfood-rich meals per day as well as a Sirftfood-packed green juice.

HOW MUCH WEIGHT DO I LOSE?

Up to seven pounds a week. As the diet also promotes lean muscle mass, it’s a favourite with atheletes and models. By protecting and even promoting muscle, the diet plan avoids this metabolism slow down, paving the way for more sustainable and long-term success.

WHAT OTHER SIDE EFFECTS ARE THERE?

Clearer skin, increased energy, better sleep and feeling more alert.
