I’ve always been pretty good with my skincare routine. I started moisturising when I was 10 years old. Not because I was really getting ahead with my anti-ageing, but because my older sisters did and I just wanted to be like them. It was Nivea, it was thicker than yoghurt and it probably didn’t do much but I felt grown up! Since then I’ve become such a beauty junkie, I’ve made a career out of trying as many different products as possible. So when my friends were starting to freak out that their years of going to bed with make-up on was catching up on them, I felt pretty relieved that I had drunkenly poked a face wipe at my complexion for all those years. But the last couple of years I’ve had my own freak out. Wrinkles. I know, I keep banging on about this but I can’t believe it’s happening already. I’m not even 30 year yet and my skin is definitely not as tight as my 22-year old self and I’m not sure how I feel about it! Too scared to go under the needle (steady on people, I’m not there yet!), I started looking into skincare products created by actual dermatologists and came across Dr Lancer.

If you think you recognise the name it’s because Dr Lancer is the number one skincare doctor to the stars. To put it in perspective – he’s the man that Kim Kardashian and Victoria Beckham credits as giving them younger looking skin and we all know how flawless they look. Sign. Me. Up. To get extra brownie points, I’ve started reading his book, Younger: The Breakthrough Anti-Aging Method for Radiant Skin (I mean, who doesn’t want that right?) and it’s fantastic. It covers every skin dilemma and condition there is and how you can treat it both topically and from the inside through diet and lifestyle changers. So, with a headful of science and a handful of everlasting youth, here’s how I got on….

Technically the Lancer method includes an exfoliator,  The Method: Polish, a cleanser, The Method: Cleanse, and a moisturizer, The Method: Nourish, but as a skeptic, I wanted to try just the cleanser first and see what all the fuss was about.

I know what you’re thinking, a cleanser’s a cleanser, right? I thought so too. But what makes Dr Lancer’s different is that it contains Sodium PCA which adjusts your skin to the proper pH and binds water to the skin’s surface. I know, what the hell does that mean? Basically, it accelerates cell regeneration and gives your skin that gorgeous plump and glowy appearance. Yes, that’s what I need.

After using the cleanser twice a day for four weeks, I wish I could tell you it’s a load of BS and not worth the £48. But I can’t. It left my skin firmer, smoother and so even I went to work without foundation on (I know, so brave!). It’s light and soapy without leaving my skin tight afterwards but the best part is that you only need the smallest amount for it to last. The fine lines around my eyes have faded slightly and the skin around my mouth is noticeably tauter. For once, I think I have to agree with Kim K, the man’s a genius!
