It’s the most recognised name in the fashion retail industry but if Net-A-Porter.com Founder, Natalie Massenet had her way, we’d be buying from a very different online shopping destination. The successful entrepreneur has revealed to 032c.com that she originally wanted to call her new concept, “What’s New Pussycat?” Doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, does it? Thankfully, natalie’s lawyer convinced her to re-think her name of choice. “I took my WWD dictionary and went from A to P: prêt-à-porter. Net-a-Porter. The name meant a lot. I couldn’t sell my friends’ Pashmina scarves anymore. It had to be the real stuff. It had to be prêt-à-porter” explains Massenet.
I think it’s fir to say that the fashion world owes Natalie Massenet’s lawyer a lot!
