As beauty goes, luxury skincare is my number one weakness. I’m not that handy with a contour brush and there aren’t many eyeshadow shades that suit me but give me something that promises a glowing complexion and I’m all over it. And the more scientific the better. I’ve always been fascinated by luxury skincare products, ever since I stole my sisters Clinique night serum at the age of 12 (when you really don’t need night serum!) and couldn’t believe how soft my (already-soft) skin felt.
You guys know how much I’ve struggled with my skin this season – from stress to hormonal breakouts, it’s been a real pain to maintain. It got to the point where I couldn’t play with any new luxury skincare products without it becoming angry and inflamed which is where THIS and THIS product became total life-savers. Although it’s not completely back to normal, I still have some texture on my chin, I have been able to mix up my skincare products a bit more which have been attending to other skin needs.
With the heatwave now over and a new season just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about giving our skin a bit of TLC targeting dryness and just the overall ‘meh’ impression it gives after months of heat, chlorine and that oh-so heavenly sea water. So, here are five gorgeous luxury skincare products I’ve been trialling and quietly falling in love with…
TATA HARPER REGENERATING CLEANSER
Half cleanser, half exfoliator, this has been amazing on the days where I feel like my skin is weighed down with suncream, make-up and general grime of the day. Tata Harper is one of my favourite luxury skincare brands – almost completely natural, their products are a little bit more expensive, I won’t lie, but they’re results-driven and don’t mess around! After using this for just a week my skin feels tighter, smoother and really ridiculously clean without the use ofsoaps, alcohols, and detergents.
Using fresh enzymes, clays, and essential oils, it nourishes and hydrates the skin while the microspherical apricot seed powder gets into the nitty gritty of pores, cleaning out every last pore. For anyone that’s looking for a deep clean after a summer of sweat and SPF, this is a winner.
RÉVIVE MASQUE DE GLAISE
Hand me a clay mask and I’m a happy girl! When your skin is being such a nightmare and everything makes it sting or hot, clay is a great ingredient to embrace. Known for drawing out impurities, a lot of clay skincare products will also soothe and calm the complexion at the same time.
Powered by rich clays and infused with soothing moisturising ingredients, RéVives purifying facial mask deeply cleanses skin while hydrating, conditioning and help restore the skin’s clarity. I love using this after a warm shower to let the steam of the bathroom help it penetrate deep into my skin. It’s a little piece of luxury in my skincare routine at the moment and is bringing my complexion back to its best.
LA ROCHE POSAY REDERMIC ANTI-AGEING EYE CREAM
Oh how I love La Roche Posay, let me count the ways! This high street cosmetic brand packs a serious punch in the skincare product game and have bought my skin back to life on many occasions. I trust them completely and their retinol products are some of the best I’ve ever tried. Perfect for all skin types, they’re not irritating or aggressive but hit wrinkles and imperfections hard.
I’ve been using this retinol eye cream every night for about 4 weeks and look how much is left! If I haven’t drunk enough water, had a late night or have eaten a lot of salt, my eyes always puff up and get quite dark shadows underneath but this always makes them feel so hydrated, even in texture and tighter overall. It doesn’t ‘fix’ bags or shadows but it does make peepers seem a little more taut and bright.
PETER THOMAS ROTH WATER DRENCH HYALURONIC CLOUD CREAM
As someone who has quite dry skin, I love how it transforms into this freckled, dewy lovliness in the summer months as our skin produces more oil naturally. With a subtle golden hue, it’s almost enough to make me up sticks and move to warmer climes permanently. But when that autumn chill rolls around it’s left dry, dull and sun damaged. I tend to seek out luxury skincare products with hyaluronic acid at this time of year to try and put some moisture back.
This moisturiser from Peter Thomas Roth is seriously clever as it draws moisture from the atmosphere and transforms it it into continuous moisture for your skin that lasts up to 72 hours. How cool is that?! My skin has been drinking this up for over two weeks now and I can’t get enough of it. It leaves my complexion plump, dewy and full of life which shines through any base make-up I layer on top.
SUNDAY RILEY LUNA SLEEPING NIGHT OIL
I’m a total Sunday Riley newbie and I’m still finding my feet with what works with my skin and what doesn’t but their night oil is definitely the former. Don’t let the bright blue appearance put you off (it doesn’t go on the skin like this), it’s retinol-rich and packed full of and blue tansy (a skin-soothing, anti-inflammatory extract that reduces redness dontchaknow).
I was recommended this by my dermatologist because it’s brilliant at correcting and anti-aging, tackling eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, rosacea and acne, while treating oxidative stress like pigmentation and dark spots. So yeah, it basically does everything! As it’s a little more expensive, I always reach for this when my skin is having a crisis, needs a boost or a hit of hydration. It always looks smoother when I wake up in the morning and small blemishes and scarring has faded more and more with every use.
