There aren’t many occasions where I get to dress up these days, bar the odd girls night or rare date with the hubby. Which is why I kinda relish in party dressing around Christmas time. Even if I don’t technically have anywhere to go! For around 350 days of the year, I’m adverse to sequins, glitter or anything remotely sparkly. It’s a little out of my comfort zone to feel quite so…shiny. But throw a Michael Buble Christmas song and a glass of mulled wine into the mix and watch my satirical rules go out of the window.
This year we’re hosting our very first Christmas Eve get-together at home for friends, family and neighbours in the hope of giving a little back to those dearest to us while simultaneously thanking our neighbours for their patience with the building work this year! But mostly, I’ve always wanted to go to a Christmas house party – the kind you see in Christmas films or Marks & Spencer adverts yet never seem to find one so I thought it was time to take matters into my own hands.
With so many options beyond the trusty LBD this year, it’s never been easier to think outside the box when it comes to party dressing and give your go-to style a festive shake-up. Think chic tailoring, sequinned shoulders and stand-out bags that will be the talk of the party.
