There’s something about a clear and glowing complexion that screams youth, health and at times, an amazing facialist. But with the SS14 catwalks awash with dewy faces, it’s a trend that’s here to stay.

But if drinking three litres of water, a diet of super foods and locking yourself in a steamy bathroom for hours doesn’t quite fit in with your day-to-day schedule, there is another way; Clarins Instant Light complexion base. Available in Rose, Champagne and Peach this nifty little product contains 3D Radiance pigments combined with the new High-Lumitech Complex to veil imperfections and smooth any fine lines. Katafray works to plump out the skin and hydrate from within allowing that healthy glow to shine through without a hint of dry skin or redness whilst white tea and succory dock-cress extracts protect against pollution and free radicals.

After completing my cleanse, tone and moisturise routine I applied Instant Light over my cheeks and noticed the results instantly. You only need a very small amount (as I learnt) which goes a surprisingly long way and sinks into the skin like a dream. The coverage is light and refreshing and would easily be enough on its own for the summer months. However, as the weather isn’t quite there yet I dotted a little foundation over the top which created a flawless finish with the right amount of sheen showing through. It may be a little too much for oiler complexions therefore I’d suggest a small amount dotted on the apples of the cheeks, the temples and a little above the brow bone to avoid unwanted shine.

As BB and CC creams continue to dominate the beauty pages, there’s a new breed of lightweight coverage on the horizon in the form of light-reflecting technology. And what better way to start than Clarins?

Clarins Instant Light complexion base is £26 and available from all major department stores
