He is the king of the red soles, but now renowned shoe designer, Christian Louboutin has used his brand roots to create a new, striking nail polish. After complaining that his shoes “had something missing” Louboutin famously grabbed the red polish of his assistant and painted the sole a vampy red hue, propelling the brand to international stardom.
Fast-forward twenty-two years later Rouge Louboutin Nail Colour is born and in typical Louboutin fashion; it’s no ordinary nail lacquer.Ever the perfectionist, the French designer ensured his colourists made fifty attempts of colour matching, until the pigments are exactly the same colour as the infamous soles. Encased in a 20.5cm high gothic-style bottle, it is what you’d imagine would sit on Maleficent’s evil dressing table with a thorn-like top and bottle as angular as those cheekbones.
Rouge Louboutin (£36) and 30 other shades will be available from September at www.christianlouboutin.com
