So, while I was trawling the sites for autumn boots one rainy afternoon adding to my virtual shopping bags, I thought I’d just share my findings with you lovely fashionista’s in the hope you can ease my guilt and join me with a little style update!
ANKLE BOOTS
If there’s one item in my wardrobe that takes me from Summer to Autumn it’s an ankle boot. I might already have six pairs but I’m constantly on the lookout for a new addition. Getting the cut and heel height just right to elongate your legs is part of the fun and games when buying Autumn boots. While I love a brown ‘festival’ boot for late summer, I always move into a more structured style as the weather cools. This year I can’t get enough of rich burgundy tones and those gorgeous fall textures we know so well – velvet, suede and patent leather with bold metal wear and faux fur accents. Heaven! Although the chunky heeled boot isn’t going anywhere this year, I’m so glad the stiletto style and pointed toes are back for the ultimate dose of elegance (and a little witchy glamour for Halloween!).
OVER THE KNEE BOOTS
Of all the new season trends I’m so relieved this one is back! I dipped my toe (excuse the pun) into over-the-knee boots last year with a flat pair from ASOS but never got round to buying a heeled version for fear I’d look more Vivienne from Pretty Woman than the demure fashionista I had in mind! I instantly regretted it all winter when my Pinterest feed was full of amazing over-the-knee street style shots. With twice the colourways, materials and designs this year, I can’t wait to snap up a pair and style them up with leather trousers, jumper dresses and skinny jeans.
FLAT BOOTS
Theres nothing more magical than that first frosty morning where the ground sparkles and the leaves look crystallised. It’s one of my favourite things about Fall. Not to sound too Mama Harris but it also means that a pair of sensible Autumn boots is a must. Too many times have I been like Bambi learning to walk on those icy mornings in high heels. If I’m forgoing my five-inches I need a flat boot that can still hold their own in the style department. This year I’ve got my eye on something a little different – although chunky soles and DM’s are back, a pair of Chelsea boots and an embroidered riding boot are as masculine as I get I’m afraid!
STAND-OUT BOOTS
I’ve always felt that shoes should be something special. IN fact, I didn’t own a pair of black shoes until a couple of years ago – why have black when you could have every other colour? I thought. A concept I still believe, to an extent, but have since learnt that the colour might be muted but that doesn’t mean they can’t still be fun. From star motifs, leopard print and abstract heels, you can have some serious fun with your Autumn boots. In fact, my red velvet boots have saved an otherwise boring outfit on more than one occasion!
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
What’s on your autumn shopping list this season? Are there any boots you have your eye on or maybe you can’t wait to wear last year’s favourites? Let me know!
