5 WAYS TO START THE DAY RIGHT

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday…unless the day begins with an ‘S’, getting out of bed is just that little bit tougher. Whether it’s a bad night’s sleep, an early start or just a tough day ahead, how we wake up and spend those precious few minutes in the morning can be┬áthe difference between a great day and that bottle of Pinot Grigio at the end of the day.

Make sure you never wake up on the wrong side of the bed again with these top tips:

REAFFIRM YOURSELF

Want to have an amazing day? Then set yourself up for it by saying it out loud. Affirmations such as “I’m going to succeed”, “my energy grows healthier and happier every day” or “I radiate confidence” can put you in the right mindset and attract a positive energy.

CATCH UP ON CARDIO

Not only does light exercise in the morning burn fat, it also releases endorphins (the happy hormone). Whether it’s a 20 minute HIIT session or just a brisk walk for half an hour, you’ll reap the benefits all day long.

CHANGE YOUR ALARM

Hands up who jumps out of their skin when that shrill alarm call goes off. Me too. Changing your alarm to your favourite song or a particularly happy song (Pharrell Williams couldn’t have made it any easier!) will create a self-fulfilling prophecy and set you up for the day.

DO A MINI MEDITATION

It may be the buzzword of this year but meditating isn’t for everyone. But it is proven to help your state of mind and induce calm throughout the day. Try laying in bed for 1-2 minutes and concentrate on breathing slowly and deeply to still your mind and start the day afresh

DITCH THE COFFEE

Ok, I know it’s the answer to sleepless nights and long days but coffee can set you on a rollercoaster of highs and lows for the next 8 hours, spiking your blood sugar levels and leading you down a slippery slope. It may sound dramatic but opting for green tea will give you a caffeine boost but also fill your body with antioxidants and boosts your metabolism.
