I’d say that I’m glad it’s candle season but every season is candle season as far as I’m concerned (as THIS shows). If there’s anything that makes cold, dark days more bearable it’s winter candles. Ones that instantly take you to an alpine forest, a gingerbread house or mulled wine by the fireplace – figuratively of course! I’m obsessed with winter candles this time of year. When I come home to a cold, dark house, the first thing I do is light the fire and two or three candles to give the room that homey, cosy feel. It instantly transforms the space into somewhere you actually want to spend time in.
As we all gear up for Christmas and stress levels slowly creep up, I wanted to share a few of my new favourite winter candles that I bought this week. What I love about them is that they’re all completely different and bring something unique depending on the room they’re in and what you’re in the mood for. So put the kettle on, grab a blanket and get ready to transform your home into a higgle heaven with these three must-buys.
THE SPA ONE
Joyful Glow Candle, Elemis
When it comes to winter candles I’m usually a floral/earthy kinda girl. I shy away from fruity scents as I tend to find them overpowering but this candle from Elemis is perfect. Although it has notes of orange, it works so well combined with cinnamon and vanilla, making it a heady scent that you only need to burn for a short time. There are a few scents for winter that instantly encapsulate the season and cinnamon is definitely one of them. Spicy, warm and comforting, it’s just the right amount of Christmas.
THE SCANDI ONE
Flamma Candle, Skandinavisk
When it comes to cosiness the Scandinavians are the masters – from higgle to lagom, they invented the biggest trends of 2017. If you haven’t heard of Skandinavisk, brace yourselves, you’re going to want to buy everything from their website! They have been one of my top finds this year and their candles have provoked the most compliments from friends, family and even the postman. Chic, minimal and totally gorgeous, this Flamma candle smells like rain thanks to its brushwood, moss and pine undertones. It may not be the typical floral scent but that’s exactly what I love and that’s all that really matters!
THE CHRISTMAS ONE
Scents of Christmas, Neom Organics
Ahh no one does winter candles quite like Neom, especially when it comes to the festive season. I feel like I’ve followed Neom since the very beginning and it’s been so lovely to watch them grow into this iconic brand. Their Scent of Christmas gift set was meant as a Christmas present but I couldn’t bare part with it! The box is so incredibly beautiful featuring the London skyline in a silver and gold sheen – a print that also features on the candles themselves. I’m trying to save one of them for Christmas Day but I can’t resist the depth of its mandarin, cinnamon & tonka bean aroma, it fills the whole house with the smell of Christmas.
